Questions
How is the price worked out?
Time on site = lawn size ÷ your mowing rate + setup time. Cost = time × crew cost per hour. Price = cost ÷ (1 − margin), never below your minimum charge.
What mowing rate should I use?
Time a few typical lawns from unloading to driving off and divide the square footage by the hours. A two-person crew with a 60-inch mower often covers 30,000–50,000 sq ft an hour on open lawns; obstacles and slopes slow it down.
Why does the sliding scale differ from the straight price?
Large lawns mow faster per square foot because setup is spread over more grass. A sliding scale charges each further block of lawn a little less, so big lawns are not overpriced.
